@jayant101, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If HP hotkeys (such as brightness, volume, or function keys) are not working, try these troubleshooting steps:

Check Fn Key Lock

  • Some HP laptops have an Fn Lock feature that switches between standard function keys (F1-F12) and multimedia actions.
  • Try pressing Fn + Esc to toggle between modes.

Reinstall or Update HP Hotkey Software

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  • Expand Keyboards and Human Interface Devices (HID).
  • Look for HP Hotkey Support or HP Quick Launch Buttons.

Check Windows Services

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Look for HP Hotkey UWP Service or HP Hotkey Monitor.
  • Right-click > Restart. If disabled, set it to Automatic.

Update Keyboard & HID Drivers

  • Go to Device Manager > Keyboards.
  • Right-click the keyboard driver > Update driver.
  • Do the same under Human Interface Devices (HID).

Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS (F10 on boot).
  • Look for Action Keys Mode under Advanced Settings.
  • If disabled, enable it and save changes.

Install HP Support Assistant

  • Download and install HP Support Assistant.
  • It can detect and update missing drivers automatically.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
