@jcabadi, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP notebook’s touchscreen has stopped working, here are some steps to help restore it:

Step 1: Check if Touchscreen is Enabled in Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
  3. Look for HID-compliant touch screen.
  4. If it’s listed but disabled:
    • Right-click it and choose Enable device.
  5. If it’s missing:
    • Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides a built-in tool to test touchscreen functionality:

  1. Turn off your laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Select Component Tests > Touch Screen.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to test and calibrate the touchscreen.

Step 3: Update or Reinstall Touchscreen Drivers

  1. In Device Manager, right-click HID-compliant touch screen.
  2. Select Uninstall device.
  3. Restart your laptop, Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
  4. Alternatively, visit HP Support to download the latest drivers: Official HP® Support

Step 4: Check Windows Settings

  1. Go to Settings > System > About.
  2. Under Device specifications, check if Pen and touch input is listed.
    • If it says “No pen or touch input is available,” your touchscreen may be disabled in BIOS or not detected.

Step 5: Enable Touchscreen in BIOS (if applicable)

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Look for Advanced > Built-in Device Options.
  3. Ensure Touchscreen is set to Enabled.
  4. Save changes and exit.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
