spectre x360 convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought hp spectre x360. I entered my email (gmail) but it was linked to an old hotmail account that I am not using anymore. now I want to change that old microsoft email to a new microsoft email I created and use it for this laptop and all apps inside instead of the old email I am not using. Thank you

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/ and sign in with email and password you set up on laptop.  Click on "Your Info" in the blue bar. Click on "Manage how you sign into Microsoft".  You should arrive at a page to add and remove email adresses. I would leave the old address for now and add the new one and make it Primary. Once you have tested that it works to login to laptop you can always go back and delete the old email.

Please try:

You can change to local account which won't link to Microsoft account:

Thanks for your prompt response! The name is not the issue I am trying to delete that email and use the new one. As if restarting the laptop from the beginning, I even considered restore factory settings but was worried it will remove the windows and office i just purchased. Thanks

I should have checked before I went through the steps on my MS account-Microsoft has a document on it hiding right in plain view. 🙂
