Hi @Pratius, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To keep your HP 15s laptop's battery healthy by limiting its charge to 80%, let's dive into the steps:

Enter BIOS Settings:

Turn off your laptop.
Press the power button to turn it back on and immediately start pressing the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup.

Navigate to Power Management Options:

Once in BIOS, use the arrow keys to navigate to the Advanced tab or Configuration tab.
Look for Power Management Options or Battery Health Manager.

Enable Battery Health Manager:

If you find Battery Health Manager, select it and choose the option to Maximize my battery health. This setting will limit the battery charge to 80%.

Save and Exit:

Press the F10 key to save the changes and exit the BIOS.

I hope this helps you nurture your battery's longevity.

Have a wonderful day!

i have a new HP spectre 360 16 inch. I tried, got in BIOS only battery setting to balanced. no capping option is available. although this is a high-end laptop, i cannot believe it is missing a critical parameter to conserve battery life.

are there any alternatives where i can cap battery recharging to 80%?

Thank you,

Regards

Ahmed

I have a Zbook FireFly G9 with BIOS 1.14 and HP Power Manager v, 3.1.20 - which I believe are the latest versions for both. I have both BIOS and Power Manager settings at "Maximize My Battery Health" - With previous BIOS versions, this approach would limit the battery at 80%. As of now, it doesn't, it charges the battery all the way to 100%, which minimizes my battery health.

I have tried re-installing the HP Power Manager software and re-checking the BIOS to no avail.
Is there a solution to this problem?

Thx

Hi. I need to do the same -- keep my battery at around 60-80%. My device is an HP Victus 16 product number AY2U7PA#UUF.
Appreciate your help.

@gg3601, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Optimize Your Battery Health!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Use Battery Management Tools:

  • HP Support Assistant: This tool can help you manage your device’s battery settings. Ensure it is installed and updated on your device.
  • Download the HP Battery Health Manager: This tool helps you configure battery maintenance settings. You can find it on the HP support website.

Enable Battery Care Functionality:

  • If available, turn on settings that limit charging to the optimal battery range using your device’s BIOS settings or battery health management software.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures:

  • Operating or charging your laptop in extreme temperatures (either too hot or too cold) can impact battery health and longevity.

Discharge and Recharge:

  • Regularly allow your laptop battery to discharge to around 60% before recharging it to around 80%. This practice helps maintain healthy battery levels.

Use Power Management Settings:

  • Adjust the power management settings in your operating system to decrease power consumption when running on battery. Lowering screen brightness, closing unnecessary applications, and enabling sleep mode when not in use are effective strategies.

Steps to Access BIOS for Battery Settings

  1. Restart your HP Victus 16.
  2. Press the BIOS Setup key (usually F2 or F10) when the HP logo appears.
  3. Navigate to the power management section.
  4. Look for settings related to battery health or charging options.
  5. Configure the settings to maintain your battery’s health between 60-80%.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
