Ah, thanks.  Didn't realise a .exe could be used that way.

 

Next dumb question, can you help me find 'controller Components software' in device manager?

Never mind, found it under 'Software Components'.

 

But when I provide the path to the new driver, Windows states that 'The best drivers for your device are already installed'.

click on "Select from a list...". " and then click on  button "Use disk.."

Thanks, yes, I rolled back to 8.10.14.1 by letting Windows find all the drivers and then selecting from the list, rather than just navigating to it.

 

Anyway, two restarts so far and no crashes.  Woohoo !!
