HP Spectre 13-4000 x360 Convertible PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

the synaptics driver for hp spectre is not that smooth and fast responding to consecutive clicks even after updating it to the last version , so I tried  the lenovo synaptic touchpad driver https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n1mgx14w.zip

and it was amazing and super responsive (very fast especially for two finger taping) but it has some problems because it's not made for hp ( I can't not change the default setting , it has some problems while scrolling in windows explorer not smooth , cannot move cursor while typing enter or shift...) but all these problems are notting compared to how slow the first driver ( by slow I mean when I type with two finger for example it took almost half second to show up , and if I repeat it many times it doesn't always respond , whereas , lenovo driver respond instantly for two or three finger gestures )

Hope there is a solution for this problem 😞

it has never worked without these issues ,

I tried all the solution I found in this forum

I tried the default touchpad driver without gesture , it worked but without any gesture

I tried the hp synaptic driver that come with this laptop , it worked but it respond very slowly to gesturesv

I tred the updated hp synaptic driver version , same problem

I tried the synaptic driver that I found on lenovo site which is newer , it was amazing , respond very quickly to gestures , super fast , the only problem is the scroll in windows explorer is not smooth at all ( scroll in chrome or other application still great)  , this problem appears only with this driver , not the hp driver , but because it's faster and respond quickly to gesture just like the mac os touch pad , I prefer keep this one even with this scroll problem

So that's all the details , the link to the driver I'm using is on my post

Wish HP release same fast driver but without scroll issue

I had this same issue and managed to resolve this somehow. I had to try a few things but eventually it worked. I don't remember the exact combination of steps but here goes.

I noticed that the PS/2 device wasn't listed under Device Manager - Mice. Luckily my USB mouse did work (but at some point even that didn't work either and I had no pointer at all) so I used my touch screen at points.

What i did was, manually uninstall Synaptics from Add/Remove Programs, restart, download the Synaptics driver from the HP website. Install that. Then, when I went to Mouse settings, it said:

Unable to connect to the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver if you have installed another ps 2 pointing device driver please uninstall the synaptics by using the yes button.  You then need to reinstall your pointing device driverfor your external device again.

So I clicked Yes, which uninstalled Synaptics again. Then restarted, and then the PS/2 device was there and the basic touchpad worked (without advanced touch settings). Then the system automatically installed Synaptics on its own (I didn't have to use my previous install package), and after restart the full touchpad settings were available.

Hope that helps.
