my 12 month guantee runs out this month, will i still be able to use HP support assistant.

Yes, HP Support Assistant will continue to run and provide messages and updates even if your warranty has expired. It is not connected to your warranty. Once it expires, it will display a message about the warranty (bit will continue to work).

 

If you decide you want to extend the support options available from HP, you may "extend" it my purchasing a CarePack or SmartFriend:
