Hi @VS-1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for sharing the image. The error message confirms that the audio driver you installed is not supported on your current Windows 10 version (10.0.19045). Let’s fix this with the correct driver for your HP Notebook - 15-bs658tu.

Step-by-Step Fix for Audio Driver Compatibility Issue

1. Uninstall the Incompatible Driver

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers
  • Right-click the current audio driver > Uninstall device
  • Check and delete the driver software for this device if available
  • Restart your PC

2. Install Compatible Realtek Audio Driver

HP officially recommends the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver (sp96864) for your model.

🔗 Download Realtek Audio Driver for HP Notebook - 15-bs658tu Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support (sp96864)

  • Download and run the installer
  • Restart your PC after installation

3. Optional: Use HP Support Assistant

HP Support Assistant can auto-detect and install the correct drivers:

🔗HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

4. Check Audio Enhancements

After installing the correct driver:

  • Right-click the speaker icon > Sounds
  • Go to Playback > Properties > Enhancements
  • Disable all enhancements if sound distortion persists

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
