Hi, @storm16
The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if the HP System Event Utility works on your notebook.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
It sounds like you're encountering an issue where the HP Programmable Key isn't working due to the Hotkey Service not being installed or active. I'll do my best to assist you to resolve the issue:
1. Check if HP Hotkey Support is Installed:
- HP's Hotkey Service is necessary for the programmable keys and other special function keys to work properly. This service is often included with the HP support software or specific drivers for your model.
Since you're using Windows 11 24H2, you can try the following:
2. Install or Reinstall the HP Hotkey Support Driver:
- Even though the link may not be visible on the main driver page for your product, it’s possible the HP Hotkey Support driver is included in the HP Support Assistant or bundled with other drivers.
Follow these steps:
- Go to HP Support:
- Navigate to HP Support – Drivers & Downloads and enter your laptop's model number: HP Envy Laptop 16-h1053dx (9U360UA).
- Install HP Support Assistant (if you haven't already):
- Download and install HP Support Assistant from the HP Support Assistant page. This software can detect missing drivers, including the Hotkey Support Service, and automatically install them for you.
- Search for Hotkey Support:
- If you're still unable to find the Hotkey Support driver on the page, check under Optional drivers or use HP's automatic update tool to search for it.
3. Check HP Quick Launch Buttons:
- Another possibility is that the HP Quick Launch Buttons software might be required for programmable keys. This can sometimes be found alongside the Hotkey Service.
4. Update Your System and Drivers:
- Sometimes Windows updates or newer drivers are necessary for compatibility. Run Windows Update and check for any newer versions of drivers that might include the Hotkey Service.
- Open Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates.
- Install any available updates and restart your laptop.
5. Check Task Manager:
- After installation, ensure the HP Hotkey Service is running:
- Open Task Manager (press Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Check for any HP-related processes running under the Processes tab.
6. Try Manual Installation (If necessary):
- If none of the above steps work, you might need to search for a driver package for your model on trusted third-party driver websites (ensure you use a reputable source like DriverGuide or Softpedia).
Hope this was helpful.

And that would include the secondary sources I provided?
If that is the case, then I'm afraid the solution you are looking for either doesn't exist, or it is beyond my ability to provide.
