Welcome to the HP English Community --

HP has no relationship or connection to System Mechanic.

None.

The "mechanic" has been around for many years --

There have been a few posts in the Community recently (during the past month?) saying that the "app is back" and the pop-ups are plaguing people.

Dragon Opinion

You might have picked up the pop-up when you visited a random website --

In particular, spurious pop-ups might be the result of having downloaded something seemingly unrelated from an unprotected site.  Some websites make money by piggy-backing surprise packages on their downloaded software or apps.

Sometimes it takes naught more than visiting the wrong site -- if your browser security is not strong enough to prevent it, a piece of malware might find a way to sneak onto your system.

The "someone" who wants you to have this app is not HP nor does HP want this stuff on your computer.

Unfortunately, there are no Internet police -- we are free to visit, download, grab -- or be grabbed by -- anything that our browser security and / or system security do not prevent.

Suggestions

Run a deep scan on your computer using your own security software to try and pry the pop-up from your system.

Check your Browser security settings to see if there is a way to reduce / prevent unwanted flack from landing on your system when you are visiting random websites.

If your browser cannot protect you, consider using a different browser when visiting unprotected sites.

Do not download "stuff" from the Internet without understanding exactly what it is and the source of the content.

Thieves are waiting - do not just hand out your privacy to their keeping.

HP Support does not free-post phone numbers for HP Support on the Internet.

Your computer is not full of bugs and you do not need to pay a fee for driver support.

Pay attention to where you are going.

Do not wander around on the Internet looking for help –

When looking for help, start only at legitimate web sites for your product

If HP has no relation or connection with iolo System Mechanic, why does HP recommend them and refer to them as a trusted partner?

"Yeah, but..."

Experts do not speak for HP.

Nothing I do or say is meant to convince you to believe or to behave differently than you do now.

There is no mention of this type of software on the official HP Website.
