is it possible to run my HP 245 G7 laptop without battery installed?

Can HP laptops, especially those with internal batteries, run if the battery is removed? My HP laptop (HP 245 G7) is 4 years old and I think the battery is not as good as before, although it can still be used , I planned to replace the battery, but the price of the official battery at the service center is very unreasonable (150$++) i cant afford that while the aftermarket battery (chinese brand) are cheaper i read lots of mixed review from this battery i worries this will damage the laptop instead . If in the future the battery in my laptop is damaged and cannot be used at all, is it possible to run this laptop if the battery is removed (without any battery installed)? my laptop probably doesn't have RTC /CMOS battery im thinking to never unplug the AC adapter all of time will this prevent BIOS reset after the laptop shutdown?

You should be able to run your notebook without the internal battery but when you shut it down, even if you leave it plugged in, you will lose the BIOS and clock settings.

When you turn on the notebook, you will have to go through the ritual of clearing the CMOS 502 error and reset the system clock settings.

If you have changed any of the BIOS settings, they will revert to the default settings.

many thanks ! is it true that it can run and boot Windows without any problem? I was told by a local technician here that HP laptops, especially consumer HP laptops with internal batteries have a configuration that if the battery is not detected, it will not boot to Windows. is this true? I just checked my laptop's manual book and there is a writing RTC CMOS in the nonvolatile memory usage section. is this a sign that my laptop has an RTC battery installed in it? besides that, I did not find a picture of the RTC/CMOS battery in the manual book. If I use hibernate or sleep instead of shutdown, will it prevent the CMOS from resetting?

I never heard of that.

There are several foks on this forum that have run their consumer class notebooks that have no CMOS batteries without the main internal battery installed.

You cannot make a generalized rule that one will or will not work.

Normally they will more than normally they won't.

Your notebook is an entry business class notebook, and I am pretty sure it will run with no internal battery installed subject to the things you will have to do to get into Windows that I mentioned earlier.
