I have an ORICO 7 port USB Splitter 5Gbps USB Hup for laptops.  I have used it successfully in the past with my mom's older computer to be able to get to my microphone, camera, etc. through this splitter.  On my newer computer, it is not recognizing the items when they are connected to the splitter. Please help!

Hi @Vera1369,

Thank you for the response

As a last resort let's Reset USB Controllers

  1. Open Device Manager → Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
  2. Right-click each device under USB Controllers and Uninstall them.
  3. Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the USB drivers automatically.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍

Hi @Vera1369,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

  1. First, try different ports. Plug the USB hub into another USB port on your laptop. Test without the hub by plugging your camera, microphone, etc., directly into your laptop to see if they work. If possible, test with a different USB hub to see if the issue is with the ORICO hub.
  2. Next, restart and reconnect. Disconnect the USB hub from the laptop, restart your laptop, then plug the USB hub back in and check if it detects devices.
  3. Then, update USB drivers. Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. Find the USB Root Hub (or any controller related to ORICO), right-click, and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for drivers. Restart your laptop and check if the hub works.
  4. Check Windows USB settings. Open Settings and go to Devices > USB. Make sure "Notify me if there are issues connecting USB devices" is enabled. Try toggling the setting on/off and reconnecting the hub.
  5. Test on another computer. If the USB hub works on another laptop, then the issue is likely with your HP laptop's USB settings. If the hub does not work on any laptop, it may be faulty.
  6. Finally, try a powered USB hub. If your devices require a lot of power, your laptop might not be supplying enough through the USB hub. Consider using a USB hub with an external power adapter to see if it resolves the issue.

If the problem persists, let me know which devices fail to connect (camera, mic, etc.), and I’ll guide you further! 😊

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately, I have tried them all.  The USB hub works on my mom's old laptop but not mine.  I believe hers runs Windows 10 and mine Windows 11. I plugged in its charge cable thinking the power was the problem but even that didn't work.  The computer will not recognize it for anything but a charge station.

I was going to buy a new one.  I haven't yet because I'm afraid I will choose the wrong one and it won't work either.
