I had the same issue - annoying!

To fix:

1. Right click on the Battery/Charger icon on the toolbar at the bottom right of the screen.

2. Select 'Power Options'

3. Click on the Change Plan Settings for your selected power plan (in my case I had HP recommended)

4. Look at the Adjust Plan Broghtness slider for 'Plugged in'

5. Adjust the slider to the left

6. Click Save Changes

Hopefully, that should fix it.

Hope this helps someone

Try discharging the machine. Remove the battery of the machine and hold down the power button for 15 seconds. Has just worked for me. Cheers

Hi,

I am having the same issue with my laptop and haven't been able to find a permanent fix, but if you unplug the laptop and take the battery out then plug it back in and replace the battery it stops the problem until the next time the battery completly dies.

Hello,

Thank you for the help! I had the same problem since yesterday.  The screen went dark when the battery was plugged in. I followed your steps and it works! Thank you!

Mine was doing the same thing, with the screen turning off when the power was plugged in. It was NOT the power or sleep settings that was causing it. I followed some directions I saw in this forum, and unplugged it, disconnected the battery, and thenplugged it back in, put the battery back in, and turned it back on, and it is working fine now. I would still like to know what caused it, so that I can avoid it in the future.

I suddenly started having this same experience. Was thinking i just bought a cheap laptop and it had worn out due to cheap parts. I have been unable to locate a viable solution to this confounded situation and it needs to go away immediately.
