Hi @shuvam34,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus Gaming Laptop 15 is not recognizing the inbuilt camera, and the camera is not visible in the Device Manager, you can try the following steps.

Check Webcam Privacy Settings:

  • Some HP laptops have a physical webcam privacy switch or a webcam shutter key. Ensure that the switch is not turned off, and the shutter key is not engaged, as these can disable the camera functionality. Make sure the webcam privacy cover is open.

Update Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting it.
  • Select Action > Scan for hardware changes. This may help detect hardware that Windows does not recognize.

Run the Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Camera and then Run the troubleshooter to check for potential issues automatically.

Install/Update Drivers via HP Support Assistant:

  • Open HP Support Assistant (search for it in the taskbar).
  • Under My Dashboard, select your device and check for updates, especially for the camera. Install any available updates.

BIOS Update:

  • Sometimes the camera might not function if the BIOS is outdated. Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page, enter your laptop model, and download the latest BIOS update if available.

Re-enable the Camera:

  • If it was disabled, go back into the Device Manager.
  • Click Action > Add legacy hardware as a way to install the camera manually and follow the wizard instructions.

Perform a BIOS Reset:

  • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS menu (usually by pressing F10 during boot).
  • Look for options related to restoring defaults or resetting and apply them.

System Restore:

  • If the camera was working before and recently stopped, you might perform a system restore to a point when the camera was functioning properly.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure your system is fully updated by running Windows Update. Sometimes, file updates are required to ensure compatibility with newer OS versions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for all your efforts and patience.

Thank you for already resetting your laptop and confirming there’s no physical shutter or privacy switch. That helps narrow things down. Since the camera isn’t listed in Device Manager and shows error 0xA00F4244, it’s likely that the update disrupted the camera driver or its detection. Let's walk through steps to restore camera functionality.

Step 1: Scan for Hidden Devices

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Expand Imaging devices, Cameras, or Sound, video and game controllers.
  • If the camera appears grayed out, right-click and select Uninstall device, then restart your laptop.

Step 2: Scan for Hardware Changes

  • In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • This may prompt Windows to detect and reinstall the camera hardware.

Step 3: Add Legacy Hardware

  • In Device Manager, click Action > Add legacy hardware.
  • Choose Install the hardware that I manually select from a list, then select Imaging devices.
  • If your camera appears, install it. If not, proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Install Camera Driver from HP

  • Visit the official HP driver page for your model:
    HP Victus 15-fa0555TX Drivers
  • Select Windows 11, then download and install the Camera Driver (if listed) and BIOS update.
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

Step 5: Run Camera Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Run the Camera troubleshooter to detect and fix issues.

Step 6: Reset Camera App

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  • Search for Camera, click the three dots, and choose Advanced options.
  • Click Reset.

Step 7: BIOS Reset

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
  • Use arrow keys to navigate to Exit > Load Setup Defaults, then select Save and Exit.

Step 8: Confirm Camera Access Permissions

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned on.

This issue has been observed after the 24H2 update, and these steps are designed to restore the camera without needing to roll back the update. If the camera still doesn’t appear, we can explore deeper hardware-level checks or alternate driver installation paths.

Let me know how the system responds after these steps, especially whether the camera reappears in Device Manager or the error changes.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
