Hi @rosenk

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly. It’s genuinely frustrating when the touchpad vanishes from Device Manager—especially on a convertible device where seamless input is essential.

Let’s walk through a structured recovery process to help restore full functionality.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Scan for Hidden or Missing Devices

  • Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)
  • Click View > Show hidden devices
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices
  • If the touchpad still doesn’t appear, click Action > Scan for hardware changes

2. Check BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS
  • Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
  • Ensure Touchpad is set to Enabled
  • Save changes and exit

3. Install or Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  • Visit the HP Pavilion x360 15-er1000 driver page
  • Download and install the latest Synaptics or ELAN touchpad driver listed under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
  • Restart your system after installation

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

5. Check Tablet Mode

  • Swipe from the right or press Win + A to open Action Center
  • If Tablet Mode is enabled, disable it and test the touchpad again

Let me know how the system responds—I’ll guide you further if needed. You're not alone in this, and we’ll get it sorted.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
