Hi: this laptop makes intense noise when I attempt to turn it on every time; the noise is getting worse, sounds like the fan is running fast, makes grating noise. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

@RP1235, Hi there, and welcome to HP Support Community!
Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.
I understand your HP Pavilion - 15-cs3153cl is making a loud, grating noise especially during startup and it seems to be getting worse. This kind of noise is often related to the cooling fan or internal components like the hard drive (if your model has one). Let’s go through a few steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
Identify the Source of the Noise
- Fan Noise: If the noise sounds like a fast-spinning or grinding fan, it could be due to dust buildup or a failing fan bearing.
- Hard Drive Noise: If it’s a clicking or grinding sound and your laptop has an HDD (not SSD), it could indicate a failing drive.
Clean the Vents and Fan Area
Dust accumulation can cause the fan to work harder and make noise.
- Power off the laptop and unplug it.
- Use a can of compressed air to blow out the air vents (usually on the sides or bottom).
- Avoid inserting anything into the vents.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides built-in diagnostics to check for hardware issues.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press the power button, then immediately press the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run the System Tests > Component Tests > Fan and Hard Drive tests.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause fan control issues.
- Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads.
- Enter your product: HP Pavilion - 15-cs3153cl.
- Download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and thermal management drivers.
