notebook shuts off when battery reaches 30%

If my battery level falls below 30% the notebook will power off. I used the HP Battery Check in the Support Assistant which said that the battery is working properly. I unchecked the box on the battery saver and it still shut down.

Hi,

Please try

(a) Right click Windows (Start menu),

(b) Select Power options,

(c) Click Change plan settings for current plan,

(d) Click Change Advanced power settings

(e) Scroll down to "Baterry" sectiom,

   

Now you have 6 options, click + to expand each section and change the value. You can play around with your setup to meet your need. Specially Low battery action:

Thanks for your reply to my post. I followed your instructions and even changed the low battery actions to: do nothing. None of the other settings are set for the notebook to shut down. The notebook still turns off when the battery reaches 30%

I have found a solution to my original question. It seems that the battery was bad, even though the battery checker in the HP Support Assistant showed the battery to be good. I purchased a new battery, installed it (without changing any of the battery and power settings on the computer) and charged the new battery overnight. The next day I let the battery discharge to 4% and have had no issues since.
