Laptop specs
- Windows 11 Home
- AMD Ryzen™ 7 processor
- AMD Radeon™ Graphics
- 16 GB memory; 512 GB SSD storage
I bought this laptop a few months ago to mainly use for gaming although it's not what it's really for but I didn't have money for something better, I noticed a lot of games I can't play or the ones I can play I have to have settings as low as possible to barely play. I was recently looking at my vram which is the problem for why I can't play these games, and I only have 495MB of vram which is what it was brand new that seems really low is that correct for this laptop? And is there any way to increase it so I can play my games?

Hi @5had0w1
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Your HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp3000 comes with integrated AMD Radeon™ Graphics, which means it shares system memory (RAM) instead of having dedicated VRAM like a gaming GPU. 495MB of VRAM is quite low for modern gaming, but there are ways to increase it slightly.
Most basic laptops come with a locked BIOS, meaning they only provide access to essential settings like boot order and security options. Advanced BIOS options, such as memory allocation, CPU tuning, and voltage adjustments, are often restricted by manufacturers to prevent accidental misconfigurations
How to Increase VRAM on Your HP Laptop
Upgrade System RAM
- Since integrated graphics use system RAM, upgrading to 32GB RAM can help allocate more memory to graphics.
Optimize Graphics Settings
- Lower resolution and texture quality in games.
- Enable performance mode in AMD Radeon Software.
Use an External GPU (eGPU)
- If your laptop has a USB-C or Thunderbolt port, you can connect an external GPU for better gaming performance.
