Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

plugged in not charging
I have a recurring problem. When I hover over the battery icon, I see the message “plugged in, not charging.” Even keeping the battery charger connected, the battery gradually runs down to fully depleted.

My product and OS info is
HP ENVY x360 Convertible, HP ENVY x360 - 15-u483cl (ENERGY STAR)
Serial Number [edited]
Product Number M1W62UA#ABA
Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version: 17763.503

I used the virtual assistant but none of the easy fixes solved the problem. I used the complicated fix of uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method battery, and then updating the BIOS. This resolved the problem and the battery fully charged and held a charge. However, after another Microsoft update, the problem reappeared. I will not go through the complicated fix every month or more frequently when Microsoft updates their OS. If HP can’t provide a permanent fix for this, I will junk my HP laptop and buy a new laptop from a competitor.

When will HP offer a permanent fix for this problem?

@jesseT89 I understand your concern and I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.

They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.

Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.

Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
