Today I'll get from Windows update this - "HP Inc. - Firmware - 15.29.0.0". In fact, it is BIOS firmware update from F.28 to F.29. After "installing" in Windows Update it wants to reboot few times. After rebooting (on charger) - still not updated.
In device manager:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Indicates a revision number encountered or specified is not one known by the service. It may be a more recent revision than the service is aware of.
Last Attempt Status: 0xC0000058"
I see some similar threads:

but both not resolved.
Also didn't find any info from HP download center or even available to download (last - F.28)

Hi @Breewy957,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing an issue with updating the BIOS on your HP Pavilion laptop. BIOS updates are important for improving system stability, compatibility, and security. If the update is failing, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue.
- Check Compatibility: Ensure that you are trying to install the correct BIOS update for your specific HP Pavilion model. Download the BIOS update from the official HP support website, and make sure it matches your laptop's model and operating system version.
- Backup Your Data: Before attempting any BIOS update, it's crucial to back up your important data to prevent any potential data loss in case something goes wrong during the update process.
- Power and Battery: Make sure your laptop is connected to a reliable power source, and the battery is sufficiently charged. A power failure during the BIOS update can lead to serious issues.
- Disable Security Software: Sometimes, security software or firewalls can interfere with the BIOS update process. Temporarily disable any security software or firewall before attempting the update.
- Run as Administrator: Right-click on the BIOS update executable file and select "Run as administrator" to ensure that you have the necessary permissions to perform the update.
- Use a USB Drive: If the BIOS update is still failing, you can try updating it using a USB flash drive. HP often provides instructions on how to create a bootable USB drive for BIOS updates in their support documentation.
- Clear CMOS: If all else fails, you can try clearing the CMOS settings on your laptop's motherboard. This will reset BIOS settings to their default values. Consult your laptop's manual or HP's support documentation for instructions on how to clear CMOS.
Remember that updating the BIOS carries a small risk, and if not done correctly, it can potentially render your laptop unusable.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
