Hello Everyone,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I am from HP Support Assistant team. We have addressed this issue in our latest release to the Microsoft Store with v9.7.583.0. If you have not been upgraded to this version, please open your MS Store app > On top right click on "..." > Get Updates > Let HP Support Assistant finish installing.

Hi,
Problem was gone for a few days but is back by me as well. 😞 I informed HP and they send me this response:

I have not tested it yet but if anyone does please let me know if this works.

Well, @Xavier-M and @Greencity, while I didn't fully understand Xavier's instructions, I ultimately followed them and still have the popup issue. Suggestions? More details below.
Here is minor revision to what Xavier wrote:
open your MS Store app > On top right click on "..." > Downloads and updates > Get Updates > Let HP Support Assistant finish installing
Here is what I did:
- Looked at the Microsoft Store and didn't see an update for HP Support Assistant (HSA).
- From Windows > Apps & features, uninstalled HSA.
- In Microsoft Store, was unable to find HSA.
- Installed Version 9.7.536.0, as an administrator, not the Administrator account, from https://www.hp.com/us-en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html
- In Microsoft Store
- Downloads and Updates showed no update
- Followed revised steps above and now HSA is listed as version 9.7.583.0. 😊
- Restarted computer
- Open HSA
- See popup 😮

So far the solution from HP is that I need to give all the users permanent admin rights. I informed them that this is absolutely not acceptable and have requested that they give my ticket to the programmers to find a solution. I'm supposed to receive a call from HP on Monday to discuss further examination of this problem. I will try to keep everyone informed because I'm sure everyone is as frustrated as I am with this problem from HP.

When the popup appears just leave it there, then you can track path to the update.exe by bring on taskbar, right click on HPupdater then open file location.
I installed the HP Support Assistant on the link above and the issue still there so I just went direct to the .exe file path and delete the folder completely. I can give you some screenshots if you want next week.

Thank you, again! So, which of these are you suggesting I delete:
- "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Support Framework\Resources\HPUpdate" - Which contains HPUpdate.exe, among other things.
- "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Support Framework\Resources" - Which includes #1 and lots of other EXEs and apps.
Unless you're saying to delete one of those folders, then re-install, that seems like it would cause problems...

HP called me back yesterday told me they were going to look into the problem again because the ticket has been given to a new support person. She put me on hold for 30 minutes. I then hung up and got no return call. It is very clear to me that this problem doesn't interest HP at all. This is the reason why our management has given standing orders not to order HP products anymore.
