Hi @doc272

It is convenient to disconnect without removing the battery, but if you are careful (static discharges) you can leave the battery .

I have a static wristband that I will be using just nor sure if I still have to remove the battery

the best thing to try is to disconnect the battery, of course then go into the BIOS and reconfigure the BIOS if you have made changes.

If I'm just replacing the chips won't the computer just recognize the new chips ?

I don't know if it supports 16x2 RAM, but if it does, there is no problem, you can change it and the memory is immediately recognized.

I think you should rephrase your question, it is not only if you can remove the battery, but you do not know if it supports the ram.
