It is convenient to disconnect without removing the battery, but if you are careful (static discharges) you can leave the battery .

the best thing to try is to disconnect the battery, of course then go into the BIOS and reconfigure the BIOS if you have made changes.

I don't know if it supports 16x2 RAM, but if it does, there is no problem, you can change it and the memory is immediately recognized.
I think you should rephrase your question, it is not only if you can remove the battery, but you do not know if it supports the ram.
