there were 3 updates but the were all audio related. no bios updates.  did the updates & restarted  laptop.

there were 3 updates but the were all audio related. no bios updates.  did the updates & restarted  laptop.  No change still very slow to respond to opening programs, pages and slow responses

Let's perform system factory recovery which will re-install original shipped software and drivers If it's a software-related issue system factory recovery will fix the lag or slow performance issue. 

 

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.
