That is correct.

Now if you want to see if this W10 IDT audio driver from a newer model notebook also works on yours (I have no idea if it will or not), feel free to give it a try.  Restart the PC after installing the driver.

Hi:

Your notebook comes with the IDT audio chip, not the Realtek one, and there is no W10 driver for your notebook's IDT audio.

So does this mean all I can use is the basic hd audio driver?

Do you have a recommended method to install the IDT driver?

HP Recommended

Download, the driver I posted, double-click on the file and run it.

If the driver is supported, it should install automatically.

If not, you will get an error that states in substance that the platform is not supported.

HP Recommended

Tried and it will not install due to platform.

I'll have to stay with the basic driver then.

Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that the W10 IDT audio driver from the HP 242 G2 notebook didn't work for your model.

I was lucky that it did work for my HP 350 G1.
