I am trying to rollback my F.33 bios to F.27 rev.A but when I try to extract it. It shows failed to extract cab. I ran it on administrator and normally. And the file name is also proper. Please help me.

Hi @Biosboy23,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When encountering issues with extracting a CAB file for a BIOS rollback, such as the "Failed to extract CAB" error, it's important to address a few potential causes and solutions. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Verify File Integrity
Check File Download:
- Ensure that the BIOS update file you downloaded is complete and not corrupted. Sometimes files can get corrupted during download.
Re-download the File:
- Download the BIOS file again from the official HP support website. Make sure you select the correct model and version for your specific laptop or desktop.
2. Use the Right Extraction Method
Use Built-in Tools:
- Try using built-in Windows tools for extracting the CAB file. Right-click the CAB file and select Extract All.
Use Command Line:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator:
- Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows PowerShell (Admin).
- Use the expand command to extract the CAB file:
- Replace path\to\file.cab with the path to your CAB file and path\to\destination with the path where you want the extracted files to go.
3. Check for File System Issues
Check Disk for Errors:
- There could be issues with the file system on your disk. Run a disk check:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Enter the command:
- Follow the prompts to schedule a disk check and restart your computer if necessary.
Check Disk Space:
- Ensure you have enough disk space on the drive where you're extracting the files.
4. Verify BIOS Update Compatibility
- Ensure Compatibility:
- Make sure that the BIOS version you are trying to roll back to is compatible with your specific motherboard or laptop model. Check the HP support website for compatibility information.
5. Use HP BIOS Recovery Tools
Use HP Support Tools:
- Some HP systems come with built-in BIOS recovery tools. Check the HP support website or your computer’s documentation for any BIOS recovery tools provided by HP.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

This is the exact problem I’m facing .
I downloaded the file multiple times from different browsers including Internet explorer and Microsoft edge etc. but the result is the same .
File after extraction is an exe file which does not open . Even though I have HP support assistant installed the HP bios update utility doesn’t show up at all .
