Hi @siddhartha10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Since your HP Victus 15 laptop's touchpad stopped working mid-session and is now stuck on the screen even after two restarts, let's go through the troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

Step-by-Step Fix for Touchpad Not Working

1. Check Touchpad Enable/Disable Shortcut

  • On HP laptops, the touchpad can be disabled accidentally using a function key.
  • Try pressing Fn + F5 or F5 alone (the key may have a touchpad icon).

2. Use Device Manager to Re-enable Touchpad

  1. Press Windows + X → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
  3. Look for I2C HID Device or Synaptics/ELAN Touchpad.
  4. Right-click → Enable device (if disabled).
  5. If it's already enabled, right-click → Uninstall device, then restart your laptop.

⚠️ You've previously faced I2C HID device failure (Code 10) — this could be related. If the device shows an error again, it may need a driver reinstall.

3. Reinstall Touchpad Drivers

  1. Go to HP Support – Official HP® Support.
  2. Enter your laptop model (e.g., Victus 15-fa0070TX).
  3. Download and install the latest Touchpad driver under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices.

4. BIOS Update (if available)

Sometimes touchpad issues are resolved with a BIOS update:

  • On the same HP support page, check for BIOS updates under the BIOS category.
  • Follow instructions carefully to update.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
