I have a dying HP G42 laptop and purchased a new HP ENVY x360. How do I transfer my data to the new computer?

If you can get the G42 to boot up then copy the data to a USB drive.

If the G42 does not boot then I would suggest removing the hard drive and getting a USB adapter/housing for the drive so you can connect it to the Envy PC.

Third option is remove the Notebook Hard Drive and install it as a secondary device in a Desktop PC and then copy the data to a USB drive.
