Hi @fabulousjohnson,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you want to scan with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 on to your Pc.

you can use the HP Smart app or the HP Scan software after installing the full-feature drivers and software from the HP Website.

1. Install the Full-Feature Drivers and Software:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the full-feature drivers and software for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.
  • You can also download HP Easy Start and select the "Full Software and Drivers" option.

2. Use HP Smart App (Recommended):

Download and Install:

If you don't have it, download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or the Mac App Store (macOS).

Connect your Printer:

Use the HP Smart app to connect your printer to your computer and complete the setup.

Scan:

  • Open the HP Smart app.
  • Select the "Scan" option.
  • Choose your scan settings (e.g., scan type, paper size, input source).
  • Place your original on the scanner glass or in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder).
  • Initiate the scan.

3. Use HP Scan Software (Alternative):

Open HP Scan:

After installing the full-feature drivers, search for and open the HP Scan software.

Scan:

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your scan settings.
  • Place your original on the scanner glass or in the ADF.
  • Initiate the scan.

4. Additional Tips:

  • "Scan to Computer" Feature: If you're using a network connection, make sure the "Scan to Computer" feature is enabled in the HP Printer Assistant (HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 series).
  • HP Print and Scan Doctor: If you encounter issues with scanning, you can use the HP Print and Scan Doctor for troubleshooting.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure you have the latest drivers and software updates for your printer.
