Hi:

Microsoft removed the unrestricted access to the W7 downloads in February of last year.

In order to be able to download W7, you need to have a full retail edition product key.

The key on your notebook's case is for an OEM edition of W7.

If you have any windows 7 home premium installation disk, you can use that, and the product key on your PC.

If you do not, you can still order a set of recovery disks for your notebook at the link below...

THANKS  I GUESS THE COA WINDOWS STICKERS IN MOST CASES WONT HELP MUCH

BUT IT DOES EXPLAIN WHY A NO VERIFY

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

You are correct...The COA stickers are now pretty much useless unless you can get your hands on a Windows 7 DVD that matches what version of W7 the key is good for.

You probably can even use a W7 Home Premium upgrade disk.

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

Yes, they are supposed to format the drive, and reinstall the operating system and original programs that came with your notebook.

They should even put the recovery partition back on the HDD.
