Hi @med991,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for your patience. Based on support documentation for your Victus by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000, here’s how to fix the issue where Windows Security opens, gets stuck on the logo for 2 minutes, and then closes.

Steps to Fix Windows Security App Not Opening

Step 1: Run System File Checker

Corrupted system files can prevent Windows Security from launching properly.

  1. Press Windows + S, type cmd
  2. Right-click Command Prompt → choose Run as administrator
  3. Type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow
  4. Wait for the scan to complete and follow any repair instructions

Step 2: Reset Windows Security App

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings
  2. Go to Apps > Installed apps
  3. Search for Windows Security
  4. Click the three dots → Advanced options
  5. Scroll down and click Reset

Step 3: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update
  2. Click Check for updates
  3. Install any pending updates and restart your laptop

Step 4: Use PowerShell to Re-register the App

If the reset doesn’t work:

  1. Open PowerShell as administrator
  2. Run this command: Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.SecHealthUI -AllUsers | Reset-App)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
