Hi, so I have a HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop 13-bf0000, I am having issues where my mouse pad was facing issues partially as in it would work and then not, it has progressed to not working at all.
I have tried, uninstalling/reinstalling, disabling/enabling and nothing has worked. I noticed there is a chance I may not a touchpad driver perhaps
I have tried to install other drivers but have failed to download them from HP or it just does not shop up
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

@Lavarna, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchpad Not Working on HP Envy x360!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Since you've already tried uninstalling/reinstalling the driver and enabling/disabling the touchpad, let’s go through a few more troubleshooting steps:
Check Windows Device Manager
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices.
- Look for a 12C HID Device (or any unknown device) with a yellow warning symbol.
- If you find it, right-click and select Uninstall Device, then restart your laptop.
Install the Synaptics or Precision Touchpad Driver
If the touchpad driver is missing:
- Go to HP Support: HP Support website
- Enter your laptop model: HP Envy x360 13-bf0000 or the serial number.
- Look for the Synaptics/ELAN/Precision Touchpad driver under "Driver - Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices."
- Download and install it, then restart your system.
Reset BIOS Defaults
- Turn off your laptop.
- Press Power and repeatedly tap F10 to enter BIOS.
- Find Restore Defaults (usually under "Exit" or "Advanced").
- Select it, save changes, and restart your laptop.
If your touchpad is still not working, please let me know:
- If the issue persists in Safe Mode
- If an external USB mouse works fine
- If any error messages appear in Device Manager
Looking forward to your update!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi @Lavarna,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query.
Looks like your touchpad decided to take an unscheduled vacation, let’s bring it back to work! We’ll go through a few steps to track it down and get things running smoothly again.
Since your touchpad was working intermittently and then stopped completely, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
1. Check Touchpad Settings
- Press Windows + I → Go to Bluetooth & devices → Touchpad.
- Ensure the touchpad is enabled.
2. Enable Touchpad via Function Keys
- Press Fn + F7 (or try Fn + F5/F6) to toggle the touchpad on/off.
3. Update Touchpad Drivers
- Press Windows + X → Click Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click HID-compliant touchpad → Update driver → Search automatically.
4. Reinstall Touchpad Driver
- In Device Manager, right-click HID-compliant touchpad → Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
5. Manually Install the Touchpad Driver
- Go to HP Customer Support → Enter your model number.
- Download and install the latest Synaptics, ELAN, or Precision Touchpad driver.
6. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart the laptop and press F2 at boot to enter HP Diagnostics.
- Run the Component Test → Mouse/Touchpad to check for hardware issues.
7. Perform a System Restore (If Issue Started Recently)
- Press Windows + R, type rstrui, and restore to a previous point when the touchpad was working.
8. External Mouse Test
- If an external USB/Bluetooth mouse works, the issue is likely with the touchpad hardware.
With a little fine-tuning, we should have your touchpad back in action. If it’s still unresponsive, don’t worry, I’ve got more tools in the toolbox! Just let me know how it goes. 😊
Hope I was able to make things easier for you! 😊
If this solved your issue, go ahead and mark it as "Accepted Solution" and hit "Yes"—your feedback keeps us going and helps others too! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day! 🚀

Hi @Kuroi_Kenshi
Thank you for all the troubleshooting options you gave
I have tried all your option and unfortunately none of them have worked 😢. I tried running diagnostics only for it to say that I have an outdated version however would not let me update. I tried downloading a new touchpad driver to which worked however after restarting, it was no where to be seen and I still have a 12C HID device error (code 10)
The only thing I can confirm is that all mouse/touch function work normally when using an external bluetooth mouse.
If this is a hardware issue, What might you propose I do
Thanks 😁
