HP Spectre x360 13.5 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-ef0000 (3Y838AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

On my HP Spectre x360, the OLED display has an issue where the right side of the display does not display pure black pixels as black, instead they are a bright blue which flicker in intensity sometimes.

The display was working fine since I bought the laptop over a year back. Now it randomly has this issue out of nowhere.

No idea what the issue is, however, a basic internet search leads me to believe it might be a damaged display connector? But no idea how that happened?

Can include a picture/video for reference, but not sure how to attach media here to this post...

Hi @vsraghavhk,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's unfortunate to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Spectre x360 OLED display. The problem you described could be caused by various factors, and while a damaged display connector is one possibility, it's not the only potential cause. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check for Software Issues:

  • Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP website or use the device manager to check for driver updates.
  • Adjust display settings in the graphics control panel to see if any changes alleviate the issue.
  • Try restarting your laptop and check if the issue persists.

External Factors:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If the external monitor displays colors correctly, it might suggest a display-related issue rather than a graphics card problem.

Hardware Inspection:

  • If you feel comfortable doing so, you can inspect the display connector. Ensure that there are no loose or damaged connections.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Alden4,

I have tried the following:
- ensured graphics drivers are up to date.

- Display settings are not alleviating any issues.

- Laptop has been restarted multiple times.

- I did open up the bottom panel, inspected the display connector, disconnected and plugged back in and that did not help.
I have also tried cleaning the display connector with a little bit of Iso Propyl alcohol, but to no avail.

I will try using an external display. I am travelling for a few days, but I will update here once I do.

Hello @Alden4,

I tried connecting it to an external display and it works fine.
Per your last message it looks like a display issue.

What could have caused this issue?

Could you please advise on how to go about fixing this?
