Just got this laptop for coding and can't stand the screen. After doing some digging I have found the part numbers for doing the 1080p swap. I have a few concerns before doing so:

- I will be going from sva to uwva, will that be a hindrance?

- My laptop has display part number 809612-016 and cable part number 926837-001, I'm assuming I would need to swap the cable to the corresponding display? Which would be, with my webcam, part number 926838-001 for display part number 847651-005. If so, will that new cable work with my mainboard?

- While I'm here, and since I'll have the device apart anyways, can I swap the non backlit keyboard to a backlit one? I see that other similar models have the option, or does my mainboard not support backlit keyboards.

I'm not super familiar with laptop hardware, so please excuse me if my questions are silly. Thanks!

Hi,

Ok. looking at partsurfer and the service manual. This is what you have

LCD cable  part number 926837-001

HD panel  809612-016

and this is what you need

LCD cable  926838-001

Panel 847651-005

So, you are correct and it will work. The cable will fit on moteherboard.

The keyboard comes as one part with the top cover. So, you can replace with a backlit keyboard as certain models came with a backlight in that series. So, you are correct again 😀

Thank you very much, I guess I had the right idea I just needed the confirmation before buying everything.

Take care!

You're welcome.

Let me know if you need any help with the upgrade once the parts arrive. It will most likely be more difficult to replace the Keyboard than the panel as you will need to disassemble the whole notebook.

You should also upgrade to an SSD for a major performance boost.

All the best,

David

I did find and download the instructional videos from HP for total disassembly. I guess on that end my only questions would be:

- Do I need new adhesive for the panel bezel?

- The videos don't include specifics about removing the actual keyboard, It just describes removing the main board. Anything past that I should pay attention to or is removal pretty straight forward from there?
