Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The key 2 W S X to not function on the keyboard, periodically. If I am persistent they may or may not work for a second or two before they stop working again. I had this problem before, I took my laptop to HP in Manila and they basically reset my machine, formatted hard drives and reinstalled the OS. It worked fine, the problem had disappeared until I installed Chrome and logged into my Google account, immediately after which it re-appeared. This seems to be Malware that I simply cannot detect. It renders the Laptop almost impossible to work with…. Any Ideas how to get rid of it, Help please!

@Evanj,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I appreciate you taking the time to share your concern and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

I’d love to help!

I recommend you to run a full scan on your computer and make sure there are no virus or malware. For malware, you can also use malware bite and run that on your computer.

If the issue persists, I recommend you uninstall the keyboard driver from device manager and restart the computer.

Here is how it is done.

  1. Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
