Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I have a problem with two-finger scrolling on my HP EliteBook 745 G6 laptop. It used to work fine, but now it doesn't. I've tried everything: updating drivers, updating Windows (I'm using Windows 10 Pro, version 22H2), and checking the settings. In the Windows settings, I only see the "touchpad sensitivity" option, but no other touchpad features. This was never an issue before with the same version of Windows. However, I had a problem with the device, so I reinstalled Windows (the same version). Do you have any other solutions I can try to fix this?

Hi @AIMAN121 , Welcome to HP Support Community!

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Touchpad Settings:

  1. Open Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
  2. Devices: Go to Devices > Touchpad.
  3. Scroll and Zoom: Ensure that the "Scroll and zoom" section has "Drag two fingers to scroll" enabled.

2. Update or Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:

  1. Device Manager: Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices: Locate I2C HID Device or Synaptics/ELAN Touchpad.
  3. Update Driver:
    • Right-click on the touchpad device and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  4. Reinstall Driver:
    • If updating doesn’t work, right-click on the touchpad device and select Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

3. Install Precision Touchpad Drivers:

  1. Download Driver: Download the Synaptics or ELAN Precision touchpad driver from the HP support website.
  2. Install Driver: Run the downloaded installer and follow the prompts to install the driver.
  3. Enable Precision Touchpad:
    • Open Settings and go to Devices > Touchpad.
    • Ensure the touchpad settings are configured correctly.

4. HP Support Assistant:

  1. Download and Install: If not already installed, download the HP Support Assistant from the HP website.
  2. Run Diagnostics: Use the tool to check for any driver updates or hardware issues.

5. BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  1. Access BIOS/UEFI:
    • Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 during startup to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  2. Check Touchpad Settings:
    • Look for any touchpad-related settings and ensure they are enabled.
  3. Save and Exit: Save any changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings.

6. Roll Back to Previous Driver:

  1. Device Manager: Go to Device Manager.
  2. Touchpad Device: Right-click on the touchpad device and select Properties.
  3. Driver Tab: Go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver if available.

I hope this helps.
