Hii,
I have a 2019 HP Spectre, when new it connected without problem to my Samsung Tv via the TV's HDMI port using a HDMI to USB-C converter. In the last couple of months it has stopped working and HP Support have advised this is due to Win 10 Security Updates preventing use of converter cables !! I should add HP still sell these converter cables on Amazon.
Further the HP Support guy said HP Spectre doesn't support HDMI only DisplayPort !!
The laptop has all latest HP & Windows updates applied but when connected to the TV, the TV doesn't recognise it even when selecting "duplicate Output" on Project screen. Cables work fine with other devices.
Its still under warranty but HP Support refuse to admit there is a problem, are there any other HP Spectre users who can successfully connect to their TV using an HDMI converter ?
Thanks.
John

What is your HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ap0xxx ? For example HP Spectre x360 - 13-ap0023dx, its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06182131
The above machine (could be same as yours) has plenty of ports:
- 1 headphone/microphone combo;
- 2 Thunderbolt™ 3 (Data transfer up to 40 Gb/s signaling rate, Power Delivery, DP1.2, HP Sleep and Charge);
- 1 USB 3.1 Gen 2 (HP Sleep and Charge);
- 2 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2
Which port do you use to connect. The USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 2 port still needs to support Alt mode for USB-C to HDMI, w/o Alt mode it won't work.
Regards.

Banhien,
The model is : HP Spectre x360 13-ap0010na - 13.3" - Core i7 8565U - 16 GB RAM - 1 TB SSD - UK
I am using the USB 3.1 Type-C™ port with a HDMI to USB-C converter. How do I know if it supports support Alt mode ?
It worked for the first six months but has now stopped working and HP Support are saying it only supports DisplayPort and not HDMI even though I have pointed out it used to work and trying to find a TV with a DisplayPort connection is rare.
Thanks for the response.
