new home HP laptop windows 11 to Acer monitor not working.

old work Dell laptop windows 10 to Acer monitor IS working.

I do have a KVM switch. Is that the same as a docking station?

Never would I have thought that this would be a problem. I'm so frustrated and sad.

This is the KVM:AAO 2 Port Dual Monitor KVM Switch HDMI 4K@30Hz, 2 USB 2.0 Hub and HDCP Supported, Wireless Keyboard & Mouse and Hotkey Switch, No Power Adapter with 4 HDMI Cables

This is the cable (that works just fine with my work Dell laptop and my old ASUS laptop): USB C to HDMI Cable 4K, WARRKY [Anti-Interference Gold-Plated Plugs] 6FT Braided Type C to HDMI Cord...

Your machine could be one of the following machines

               https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-17.3-inch-laptop-pc-17-cp0000/2100371514/product-info

For example :   HP Laptop 17-cp0001ca. Your machine should have SAME ports

It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

No KVM switches and docking stations are not the same, they don't work as the same

>>>>> HDMI Splitter Adapter Cable - HDMI Splitter 1 in 2 Out

It gives you SAME contents ob BOTH screens

Thank you for the reply. So to understand this, I would need to get a docking station to go into KVM switch. Or get a new laptop that has enough video output ports.

Although, this laptop does have another USB port that didn't work with the HDMI to USB adapter, so I got the HDMI to USB-C (since I like that style better). How do I figure out if I get a cable for HDMI to USB that that will work (other than just trying it)? Any specs or labels that will tell me this?
