@Joan1961, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Envy x369 laptop powers on but displays a black screen. Let’s walk through some steps to help resolve this issue.

Perform a Hard Reset

This can help clear any temporary hardware or firmware issues.

  • Turn off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the power adapter.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter and try turning the laptop back on.

Check the Display Brightness

Sometimes the brightness might be turned all the way down.

  • Try pressing F2 or F3 (or the brightness keys on your keyboard) to increase brightness.

External Display Test

To check if the issue is with the screen or the graphics system:

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI.
  • Power on the laptop and press F4 (or Fn + F4) to toggle display modes.
  • If the external display works, the issue may be with your laptop screen or its connection.

BIOS Recovery

If the screen remains black, try recovering the BIOS:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Press and hold Windows + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for another 5 seconds.
  • If successful, the BIOS recovery screen should appear.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
