Hi @SA228,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding lines on the screen of your HP Laptop 15s-fr2xxx!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the Graphics Driver
Update Graphics Driver: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause display issues. Ensure your graphics driver is up to date.
- Go to the HP Support website to download the latest drivers for your specific laptop model.
- You can also use Windows Update to check for any available updates for your graphics driver.
Reinstall Graphics Driver:
- Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu and selecting "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Display adapters" section, right-click on your graphics driver, and select "Uninstall."
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver. You can also manually reinstall it from the HP website.
Check Display Settings
Adjust Resolution Settings: Sometimes incorrect resolution settings can cause display issues.
- Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
- Make sure the resolution is set to the recommended setting for your laptop.
External Monitor Test: Connect your laptop to an external monitor to check if the lines appear on the external display.
- If the external monitor displays properly without lines, the issue might be with the laptop’s screen itself.
Check for Hardware Issues
Physical Damage Inspection: Examine the screen for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks or liquid intrusion.
- If there are visible signs of damage, it might require professional repair.
- Vertical Lines: Often indicative of a hardware issue with the display panel.
- Black Spots: Could worsen over time, indicating potential damage.
I hope this helps.
