Hello,
I have a HP EliteBook x360 830 G7 and want to connect this laptop to a 4k display. The current connection via USB-C seems to have a lag which some friends confirmed from looking at it. It just does not feel like 60hz. I figured out that the HP EliteBook x360 830 G7 seems to have only 5Gbps on the USB-C, which is probably not enough for 4k 60hz.
When I look at the technical specs (Link) I can read for the HDMI port on page 6: "Supports resolution up to 4K @ 60Hz via DP and 30Hz via HDMI". This is confusing to me. How can I connect DP via HDMI?
Do you know how to get 4k 60hz out of this machine? Thank you!

Your machine should have following ports
- (2) USB 3.1 Type-C port with Thunderbolt support
- (2) USB 3.1 Gen 1 port (1 charging)
- (1) HDMI 1.4 (cable sold separately)
- (1) Headphone/microphone combo jack
- (1) AC power input port
- The HDMI 1.4 port gives you 4K @ 30Hz and FHD with 60Hz or higher
- Two other USB-C ports should give you 4K monitor at 60Hz or higher. You can use Thunderbolt™ 3 compatible monitor to connect DIRECT you or use a compatible USB-C to DP adapter.
The statement on page 6 of your link does not make any sense under HDMI 1.4b sub-title.
Regards.
