Hi @Leopold77,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The small black box with the number 39 fixed in the lower center of your screen on an HP ENVY X360 15.6 Inch 2-In-1 Laptop PC is likely an on-screen display (OSD) element. It could be related to a specific function or setting on your laptop, and it appears that you accidentally triggered it.

Here are a few steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially remove the black box.

  • Check for Function Keys: Many laptops have function keys (F1, F2, etc.) that can toggle various settings, including OSD elements. Look for a key with a symbol that resembles a screen or monitor and press it. It's usually something like "F2," "F3," or "F4."
  • Check the Display Settings: a. Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings." b. Look for any settings related to OSD or on-screen display, and turn them off or adjust them as needed.
  • Check Accessibility Settings: Sometimes, an accessibility feature can cause such elements to appear. Check your laptop's accessibility settings and disable any features that may be causing this.
  • Reboot Your Laptop: Sometimes, simply restarting your laptop can resolve such issues.
  • Update Graphics Drivers: Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can sometimes lead to display anomalies. Go to the HP website and download and install the latest graphics drivers for your laptop.
  • Restore Default Settings: If none of the above steps work, you may want to perform a system restore to revert your laptop to a point before the issue started. Be sure to back up your important data before doing this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
