Hi, i have a HP Pavillion 15 which 2 days ago acquired a thin horizontal line a third of the way up the screen, i have tried restarting, battery out etc etc but its still there, just wondering if its a hardware issue or a windows issue???

The screen matrix is defective.

 

HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support

Check status:

HP support

If status (date) is wrong:

--->>> HP PCs, printers - Dispute a warranty status

 

HP warranty expired:

In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- [Always recommended] Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges should be renewed
- [Always recommended] The function of the fan(s) must be checked

- Check display cable / replace

- Replace screen

- General cleaning ...
You should have it <serviced> by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.

 

(Cheap) Alternative:

Well, you could possibly live with this strange error. At the beginning it is still hard but later it's ok...

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

 

(1) Double check with external monitor connected via vga/hdmi cable.

Do you have the same error pattern on external monitor ?

 

- Power off external monitor

- Connect vga/hdmi cable

- Power on external monitor

- Power on notebook

Hi, thank you for your help, i have done what you said and there is no line on the external monitor so i presume its an issue with my laptop screen ?
