Hi @Churic,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Spectre X360 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop is not recognizing the camera, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check Device Manager: Open Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting Device Manager. Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, indicating a problem. If you find the camera listed there with an error, right-click on it and select "Update driver" to see if Windows can find and install the correct driver.
- Update Drivers: Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your laptop model, particularly the camera driver. Install the updated drivers and restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
- Check Camera Privacy Settings: Sometimes, the camera may be disabled in the privacy settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure that the "Allow apps to access your camera" option is turned on.
- Check Camera App Permissions: Ensure that the application you're trying to use the camera with has permission to access the camera. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure that the toggle switch for the specific app is turned on.
- Check Antivirus/Firewall Settings: Sometimes, antivirus or firewall settings can block the camera. Temporarily disable your antivirus or firewall software and check if the camera starts working. If it does, you may need to add an exception for the camera in your security software settings.
- Run Hardware Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can help identify and fix hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.
- Perform a System Restore: If the camera was working previously and suddenly stopped, you may try performing a system restore to revert your system to a previous state when the camera was working. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection, and select "System Restore."
By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP Spectre X360's camera recognition.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
