I opened my laptop this morning to find 1/4 of my screen to not be showing anything. The touch screen still works on the entire screen. I haven't dropped or done anything to my laptop to suggest it would be the cause. I'm using the laptop to type this out so it's working fine for the most part. Am i going to have to purchase a entire new screen to replace it? Its out of warranty but I HAVE to have a laptop.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the display on your computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check whether the issue is resolved.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
If you continue facing the issue, then install all the updates (Including optional) and check.
Here is how it is done.
- Select the Start (Windows) button from the bottom-left corner.
- Go to settings (gear icon).
- Select the Update and Security icon.
- Choose Windows Update tab in the sidebar (Circular arrows)
- Select Check for updates. If there is an available update, it will begin downloading automatically.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Thank you for the reply! I manually installed the latest drivers for the BIOS and graphics and then checked windows for any updates i missed. After doing both these things and restarting my laptop, my issue is still occurring.

I recommend you boot to BIOS by restart the computer and tapping the F10 on startup continuously until the computer boots to BIOS and check whether you can duplicate the issue on the BIOS screen.
Let me know.

I took my laptop to a local repair shop and they are recommending i replace the entire screen of my laptop. I would have had this done already, but they aren't able to find the part. So now I am stuck in limbo with a partially working laptop because parts can't be found for it. I shouldn't be in this situation only 1 year after spending 2k on a new laptop.
