HP Spectre x360 - 15-ap012dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a surface pen after doing some research and my device pairs with the pen and the shortcut buttons work but I'm not able to write. I tried all of the recommendations from microsoft for the pen but it seems to be working fine. My device settings say pen and touch support with 10 touch points. Is there something I'm doing wrong or am I just using the wrong active pen? Is there a recommendation for an active or passive stylus that actually works well?

Hi @ScarletNight,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Spectre X360 - 15-Ap012dx Notebook PC. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

You may use a passive stylus instead, here's what you need to know:

  • passive stylus (also known as a capacitive stylus) functions the same as your finger on the screen.
  • Passive styluses do not require batteries, and they work on any touch screen device.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
