I need to have a 2nd monitor and tried to connect one to my HP Envy x360. The laptop is not detecting it or offering a dual monitor option. The 2nd monitor is simply a copy of what is appearing on my laptop. Is it possible to work from two screens using this laptop?

I just connected the new monitor using a hdmi to my HP Envy x360 w/ a Windows 10 operating system. The new monitor immediately replicated the screen of my laptop. I went to display settings and the laptop will not detect the new monitor.

You only use ONE external monitor and machine knows the monitor therefore it should detect it. Please reboot machine with external monitor and try to Detect again.
