Hi @FastService,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laptop - 15 is not recognizing a plug-and-play monitor, there are a few troubleshooting steps and potential solutions to consider.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check Connections:
- Ensure that all cables are securely connected between your laptop and the monitor.
- If using an adapter, make sure it is properly connected.
Update Graphics Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters and update the graphics drivers.
- You can also visit the HP website or your graphics card manufacturer’s site for the latest drivers.
Adjust Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Click Detect to see if Windows recognizes the external monitor.
Check Monitor Input Source:
- Make sure the monitor is set to the correct input source (e.g., HDMI, DisplayPort).
Restart Devices:
- Restart both your laptop and the monitor.
Adapter Solutions:
If you determine that an adapter is needed, consider the following types based on your ports.
HDMI to VGA Adapter:
- If your laptop has an HDMI port and the monitor has a VGA port, use an HDMI to VGA adapter.
USB-C to HDMI Adapter:
- If your laptop has a USB-C port and the monitor has an HDMI port, use a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter:
- If your laptop has a DisplayPort and the monitor has HDMI, use a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter:
- If your laptop has a Mini DisplayPort and the monitor has HDMI, use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
If you’re still having trouble after trying these steps and adapters, it could be helpful to test the monitor with another device to ensure it is functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
