Hi Cableqt77

If your keyboard is not typing the correct characters after a factory reset, it could be due to the keyboard layout settings being incorrect. Here are the steps you can take to resolve this issue:

  1. Open Settings:

    • Click on the Start menu and select Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Access Time & Language Settings:

    • In the Settings window, click on Time & Language.
  3. Change Language or Region:

    • In the Time & Language settings, go to the Language or Region & Language tab.
    • Ensure that your default language and region are set to the correct options (e.g., English (United States) if you are in the US).
  4. Keyboard Layout Settings:

    • Select your language (e.g., English (United States)) and then click on Options.
    • Check under the Keyboards section to make sure that the correct keyboard layout (e.g., US QWERTY) is selected.
    • If the incorrect keyboard layout is listed, you can add the correct layout by clicking Add a keyboard and selecting the right one.
    • Remove any incorrect keyboard layouts by clicking on them and selecting Remove.
  5. Use Right Keyboard Layout:

    • Click on the language icon in the taskbar (near the clock) and ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected.
  6. Restart Your Computer:

    • Sometimes, a simple restart after making these changes can ensure that they take effect properly.

By following these steps, your keyboard should function correctly with the layout that matches your physical keyboard. If the issue persists, you might want to check for any available updates for your system drivers by running Windows Update.

I hope the above is helpful
