HP 250 G4
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a problem that is going quite for a while now. I have an HP 250 G4 with switchable graphics intel hd 5500 and amd r5 m330. The problem occurs only when I try to play a game. The game freezes, sometimes i get the blue (BSOD).

I have tried this on windows 7 and 10.

I have the latest drivers.

I have changed TDR delay to 8 second.

I have tried disabling one of the graphic cards.

The only thing that works is running the computer on battery only, as soon as i plug it to AC and am in the middle of the game it crashes.

If somebody had the same problem please help me!

Would like to hear some advices from support as well.

my 2 cents...i suspect that laptop overheats. using the battery, mayby the laptop goes into some kind of conservative state and the processors and video card dissipates less heat.

first step, compare the cpu/gpu temp while on AC and BATT. maybe you will notice a diffrence.

if yes, you beed to clean the fan and heatpipe radiator.

Don't know if that actually helped, but i have cleaned the fan and pipe and now i can run games normalny without any problems.

After i cleaned it, i ran the game without bottom side of the laptop allowing more air to the components but the same problem happened. Next day tryed again and now its working properly with laptop assembled.

Duno if that was the obly problem but rich1974 thank you very much!

as i am sure that you noticed, the laptop has an aluminium foil on the bottom cover. using the laptop without bottom cover actually inpair the cooling. the fan does not pull the air from the bottom, like other laptops, but from the all over the inner space. thus the air is forced around all of the components, resulting a mild airflow, besides heat pipe from processors and video card.

keep your laptop as cool as possible, from time to time, open the task manager to see if some backgroung load is happening.
